If you would like to know more about network connections and networking in general. Here you can find more information:

Was ist Networking?

Testen Sie Ihren Business Club

Network Events

Germany’s networks, business clubs & more
Germany is one of the best networked countries in the world. Nowhere else are so many people members of associations, federations, clubs and networks.

IS THIS BUSINESS CLUB THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU?

Maybe you know the feeling: You are going to one of those usual networking events again. You stand with one of the usual wine, champagne or water glasses at one of the usual high tables with some of the usual business card small talkers. The speech of the usual „keynote speaker“ or panel discussion is just over and you already start to wonder if it wouldn’t have been better to spend the evening in front of the TV. After another hour at the latest, during which you have exchanged meaningless conversations and business cards with the people in the usual suits and business costumes (you will not remember either the conversations or the people you talked to), you are sure that the TV option would have been the better one. Your „network motivation“ is at zero and you are wondering:

„Am I perhaps different? Am I perhaps not a networker?“

Maybe this feeling is as familiar to you as it is to me: the feeling that all this is not for you. Maybe you just do not fit into such events. „Maybe networks are for people who have more of a sense of community than I do,“ I have often thought. The result is an indefinable feeling that creeps up on us when our idea of „Networking“ meets the hard reality. It is a feeling between boredom, feeling alienated, demotivation and disappointment. So that you know that you are not alone, but belong to the astonished but silent majority, I list below the most frequently mentioned points of criticism, the four „classics“ of the dictyonomy scene.

THE 4 MOST FREQUENT POINTS OF CRITICISM OF A BUSINESS NETWORK

1: „I don’t belong here.“

2: „I’m not meeting anyone interesting here.“

3: „I don’t know what to do here.“

4: „I’m not getting anything out of this, professionally or personally.“

Is it possible to build resilient relationships with the help of a business club that make life easier and help us achieve goals without getting bored? What is networking? Does it also mean that I can network and „network“ with inspiring people at interesting events in a relaxed atmosphere? Just think more about it, then you don’t have to stand around stupidly at standing receptions. Be more critical with your business club or business network and test it.

TEST YOUR BUSINESS CLUB

There is an infinite number of clubs, societies, associations – business networks of all kinds, which pursue the most diverse goals with the most diverse methods; an unmanageable variety of systems, concepts, rules, names, stories and people. But despite this diversity, it is relatively easy to divide all networks into two groups:

There are good business clubs and there are bad business clubs.

„Good“ is of course a very relative term. However, I assume that you still have something planned in your life and therefore still want to make contacts with others. Therefore you can assume that in the end you always have to achieve a goal in order to make sense for you: Strangers must become confidants. You must feel comfortable as a member. Before you get involved in a network or business club, you should therefore check carefully whether the corresponding system is capable of successfully achieving this goal for you.

So when you get to know business networks, you observe closely how people interact with each other, what rituals there are, what degree of formality prevails in this community. And whether you succeed in combining professionalism and structure with a smile. You can recognize a good network by the fact that it manages to combine form with content and that its members maintain meaningful rules and rituals in a relaxed atmosphere without having to hide their personality. Every network, be it „offline“ or „online“, professional or private, has a certain culture, a soul of its own. This means not only well-rehearsed methods of how to do something, but also how to deal with each other, what atmosphere prevails, what values apply, what information is disseminated and how, etc.

If you want to successfully build new relationship networks, you have to look at the network culture as a whole and develop a clear idea of the people that this business network wants to connect, what you expect yourself to do and what culture prevails within the network. It doesn’t matter whether you just want to be a member of an association or want to build your own group around yourself: Think carefully about the soul the business network needs to have in order to make you feel happy. It is not so important what dress code prevails, whether you bow when you are greeted and whether you meet the members of your network in a sauna or in an embassy. What is much more important is what you do not see immediately. Because this „invisible“ power makes the difference. Only when this soul of the respective virtual village matches your own standards and attitude to life, it is the right village for you.

The 7 elements of a good

Business Network

You can recognize a good business club by the fact that the members present at meetings are introduced to each other and succeed in integrating newcomers in style – just like in a good Berlin salon. Only a business network that succeeds in turning strangers into acquaintances within a short period of time is an efficient and therefore powerful system.

You can recognize a good business club by the way it treats its guests. The greater and more authentic the hospitality, the more personal and cordial the dealings with non-members, the higher the quality of the business network.

You can recognize a good business club by the fact that the parts of the program at events are meaningful (i.e. adapted to the purpose of the respective event), are always a discreet accompaniment to the actual meetings and that the information conveyed is relevant and inspiring for the recipients.

You can recognize a good, modern business club by the fact that it offers short, efficient meetings. In addition to the usual, longer meetings, there must be the opportunity to get to know other members in meetings that do not last longer than an hour.

You can recognize a good business network by how openly and professionally it communicates with the outside world. The less an organization is afraid of exchanging information with non-members and the media, the more chances of success it has in our increasingly networked world.

The goal must be that you as a member think positively about your business network as often as possible and feel like an active part of the respective „community“. Facebook and Twitter, for example, have shown how this can be achieved relatively easily. That’s why a modern community should use several „tools“ that are coordinated with each other to keep the contact to its members as lively as possible.

Rituals are thus the visible „tip“ of the rule iceberg that determines the function of a business network. There are rituals in every human group: from the skat round to the business club. Before you become part of a group, you should take time to observe these visible expressions of the rules in your dealings with each other. After all, whether or not you feel comfortable in a network has a lot to do with whether the laws there apply to you. Because you can hardly avoid them.
